Belgian Arborist Association (BAAs), is the umbrella professional association for tree surgeons in Belgium: In order to support the work of the Flemish professional association (Bomen Beter Beheren – BBB) and the Walloon professional association (Arboresco) and to help them grow internationally, BAAs was founded in 2006. BBB has around one hundred and fifty members, Arboresco around sixty.
We work under a non-profit structure, fully supported by volunteers. We coordinate national activities for professional tree surgeons. We represent Belgian tree surgeons within international organisations.
The defence of a quality tree heritage through continuous involvement in a sustainable development policy.
The preservation of trees as living organisms.
It is in the interest of the sector that tree owners are correctly informed about all matters that affect trees and our profession.
Professional information is made available to members, objectively and free from all sentimentality. Collaboration with public partners to develop awareness campaigns is essential to spread a positive image of our sector.
The acceptance and dissemination of studies and the promotion of research for the safety of the arborist and the condition of the tree.
Performing work around and in trees, living organisms capable of sensitive and dynamic reactions, requires the arborist to regularly update his or her knowledge.
The professional association actively promotes continuous education at regional, national and international level.
